Ron Ede sent this photo along with his note. In the middle is Gary Spiegler, a long time vendor who attended NCA events. At the far left is Ron's wife, Seabrook. Can you guess the other people in the photo? The photo is from 1986.
Editor's Note: We received a note last week from Ron Ede, an honorary member of the NCA and former owner of Junk for Joy. He also sent the photo above.
Dear NCA Members:
2020 is quite an upsetting year, and your Halloween will have its challenges. We have been retired since December 2013, having sold our business and the building that housed it. So we do feel for those that will have to struggle through these times.
As many members know, my wife, Seabrook, went through a harrowing experience of a burst aneurysm in Denver at the 2004 convention. She was “out of it” and does not remember anything about it, including even going to Denver in the first place! I remember vividly how the NCA members rallied around, took over our booth, created a “Seabrook Fund” via the auction, had a “whip around” and created a mobile phone account (which I still have) for me…and it was used to keep connected to my wife’s hospital. Today, she has a cane, and after a subsequent stroke, the left leg is lacking mobility.
We often reminisce about the NCA conventions and the different cities they took us to! Best to all!
